Gin, Tony Hong's Obituary
Tony Hong Gin was born on December 26, 1935 in Toisan, China.
Tony met his wife of 63 years in Hong Kong and started a family. Like most immigrants, Tony came to America to work while leaving his wife and young daughter behind in order to secure a better life for his family. He arrived to America while in his early 20’s and worked in the restaurant industry at Alaska, Georgia, New York, Canada, and Los Angeles.
Through hard work and perseverance, Tony became fluent in English, taught himself investment strategy and entrepreneur skills, which he used to own and operate several restaurants in America and Canada. Eventually, Tony was able to move his family to Toronto, Canada, where his second daughter and son were born, and finally, the entire family settled in Los Angeles, California.
Tony worked hard to support his family and provided a foundation for them to be successful in life. In his retirement, Tony traveled with his family and friends to locales, such as his native China, Canada, Hawaii, Alaska, and Mexico.
While Tony had many interests, such as reading and keeping up with current events and international news, he was most happiest spending time at gatherings with his family and friends playing mah jong, discussing investment strategies, and celebrating the personal and professional milestones of those he loved and cared for.
Tony passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 19, 2024.
Tony is survived by his wife Mee Chun Gin; his eldest daughter Vivian and son-in-law Francis; his second daughter Sharon; and his son Raymond and daughter-in-law Christine. Tony is preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
Tony was a loving husband, father, uncle, grand uncle, and friend. He will be missed by all.
